Development Trend of Residual Current Circuit Breakers

The paper deals with the directions of the state-of-the-art changes in the field of residual current circuit breakers, with particular emphasis on standards changes due to new requirements of environment, reliability of operation, operation at high frequencies, and use of voltage-dependent switches.

Protection switches, or residual current devices are in practice a widely used way of protection against indirect contact with live system parts, fire, and direct contact with live components, in various types and installation executions. The following types of installations can be distinguished: housing and similar installations, and industrial installations. And the executions refer first of all to the earthing systems, i.e. TT, TN and IT systems. The field of use of residual current devices is therefore wide and important enough to have to permanently follow the development. The state-of-the-art is defined by the state of standardization, therefore the paper gives in the first place an analysis of standards, with an emphasis on the IEC, EN and SIST standards, and the terminology usually used for individual product is added, too. In the continuation the actually usual use of residual current devices has been represented. The central part of the paper is dedicated to the development trend of these products, where the changes in market requirements should be emphasized, and as a result also the requirements for changes in the standardization area.

One for the Electricians ......?
After replacing some mains voltage halogen spotlights on the domestic lighting circuit with clustered LED bulbs, I noticed a residual glow from them when turned-off. Putting a voltmeter across shows a residual voltage of approx 50v when switched-off. Can you explain please UK - so 240v domestic supply Not a dimmer circuit Surely - if there was leakage to ground - the RCD would be tripping

Can I use a float charger on two batteries at the same time?
One is a 35 Ah AGM and the other is a 7.2 Ah gel cell. They both will normally be at a residual voltage of 12.8. Sometimes one or the other of the two batteries may be 1 to 1½ volts different than the other. When the batteries are not in use I plan to leave the float charger attached. They are connected positive to positive, neg to neg.

DC voltage conversion?
Hi, I have a beam sensor and I am trying to find a way to convert the voltage of this beam sensor to around 4volts(plus or minus half a volt) The sepicifcation of this beam sensor can be found here. http://www.santec.co.kr/pro_09_03c.htm But, the contents are not written in English. Please referece only the pictures in that link. I translated the content of the specification. * Type : NPN * Detection type : Direct reflection type * Connection type : Code withrawal type * Detection distance(max) : 500mm * Operating voltage : 12~24VDC +or- 10% Ripple P-P below 10% * Current consumption : Below 35mA * Iluminance : Under sun light(10,000Lx), Under illuminate light(3,000Lx) * Max inflow current : 100mA * Residual voltage : Below 1.0V(at 100mA inflow current) Below 0.4(at 16mA inflow current) * Response time : below 1ms * Moderation resistance : Above 20Mohm(DC500V mega) *Three wires connection : blue(signal), brown(+), black(-) When I power this beam sensor, I used 12vdc power supply. I measured how much voltage is comming out from the beam sensor by measuring it with a multimeter. The multimeter shows 75.6mV when the beam is not interrupted. When the beam is interrupted, the multimeter shows 0.816v. I assume if use 24vdc power supply, the voltage comming from the beam sensor would be the twice this current reading. But, it is not enough. I need 4 volts from this beam sensor when the beam is interrupted. Is there any way to get 4 volts ? Please help me.
