Connect 6 'AA' batteries series together, how to use those batteries to operate a electronic device?
Hi, I am trying to operate this electronic device which requires 9 volt. I can't use a single 9 volt battery, but I could only connect 6 double A batteries series like positive to negative. Over all, once this series is completed, how can I take the advantage to use those batteries in that series, and with out having the battery "heat-up"? This device is needed to be used like a DC car cigarette plug. The series will be the female plug and the device will have a male plug. Can anyone help me make such power, with out any accessories except the DC plug, batteries and wires...? A website would be accepted. Details---- The electronic device requires X-VOLTS; please be aware...... Just need to put the batteries as a "remote control style". The batteries are series as a control box batteries. I can't buy a control box to hold 1.5 volt AA batteries to accomplish 9 volt. If one does need web site... Details---- The electronic device requires X-VOLTS; please be aware...... Help with Kako Flash mounting on 400d and using it?
I'm not sure where to post this, but I recently unearthed a Kako Auto-240ST GN24 hotshoe flash from my dad's old camera equipment. I tried it out on my 400d and it worked on manual mode. I haven't really tinkered with the settings because I can't find the flash manual. Thing is, there's no information (even in google) about the actual voltage of the flash and I've read that canon only accepts up to 250v max sync voltage. By any chance, does anyone know anything about Kako flash models? Thanks a lot. Additional info: It takes 4 1.5v AA Batteries Series cut-off system GN24 Has manual/auto settings

UPS Battery Series & Parallel Question ?
I was searching for a UPS for my computer and found one which says 1000W / 2000VA, DC 24V This means connecting 2 x 12V batteries in series. My question is don't UPS usually have batteries connected in parallel rather than series ? Does connecting it in series or parallel affect the backup time ? What are the advantages and disadvantaged of either setup (regarding UPS battery) ? Thanks If I do get it I'll have to buy the batteries as a separate buy. and connect them up myself. So how does connecting in series affect (if at all ) backup time compare to parallel and does connecting in series or parallel reveal the type or quality of the UPS ?

Experiments with batteries: Is this safe?
1. Using 5 (1.5v) batteries in a series circuit, and connecting the positive with the negative ends with a metallic wire (the wire and batteries get REALLY hot). Will the batteries explode? If so, how long do you think I can keep it this way before something bad happens? 2. Using another series of batteries, I first connect the wire to the positive side of the battery series, but this time I wrap the other end of the wire around an organic material before completing the circuit by placing the free end of the wire on the negative side of the series. What will happen now? Please help! I don't want to get hurt while I'm experimenting!
